Our View of God
What is your view of God? How do you see Him? Our view of God impacts several areas of our lives. We see His Worship in Revelation 5:8–10: “. . . the four living creatures and the 24 Elders fell down before the Lamb, and everyone had harps and golden vials full of incense which are the prayers of the Saints. And they sang a new song saying, “You are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for you were slain and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every kindred, language, people and nation; and have made us unto our God kings and priest, and we shall reign on earth.” Here we see a picture of the worship of the Lord and how it impacts the areas of our lives.
First, our prayer life. The golden bowls of incense represent the prayers of the saints. As we come to know the Lord better and see His wonder, our desires start to look like His, and our prayers will align more closely with His will. We also recognize His greatness and power; we become more confident that He can do His will through us (1 John 5:14–15)
Second, our seeing and understanding His holiness, righteousness, and goodness influences our behavior. We realize as He has told us in John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” This is evidence of our devotion based on our love for Him, rather than a forced obligation.
Third, Our Faith. Realizing that the Lord is holy, good, merciful, gracious, and powerful increases our trust in Him. Remembering all of His great works in the past, as seen in the Bible and in our own lives, will further build our confidence.
Now, do you personally know our loving heavenly Father? He desires that you have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ. If not, receive Him today (John 1:12) and learn His ways. For all of us, let’s make it a priority to know Him better, to have a vital prayer life and live a life with Godly behavior.
