The Faith of Moses
Hebrews 11:23-29 speaks of the faith of Moses. I was thinking of his trip through the desert wilderness with about three million people and what faith it took.
According to the Quartermaster General in the Army, it is reported that Moses would have to have 1,500 tons of food each day. To bring that much food each day would require two freight trains each a mile long. Besides you must remember, they were out in the desert and they would need about 4,000 tons of firewood to cook the food. This would require a few more trains a mile long, just for one day. And to think they were forty years in transit.
Oh, yes, they would have to have water. If they only had enough to drink and wash a few dishes, it would take 11 million gallons each day. That would take a freight train wiht tanks cases 1,800 miles long, just for the water.
Also, they had to get across the Red Sea at night. If they went on a marrow path, double file, the line would be 800 miles long and would require 35 days and nights to get through. So there had to be a wide space made by God in the Red Sea to get over in one night.
But there was another problem. Each time they camped at the end of the day, a campground two-thirds the size of Rhode Island was required, or a total of 750 square miles.
Do you think that Moses figured this out before he left Egypt? I think not. You see, Moses believe God: God who took care of all these things for him. God sent manna each day for food - no transportation required. God brought water out of the rock.
Let’s take courage, we have the same God. We think our problems are so big. Remember that God can do! Remember what He has done! Let the Lord run your life.
